AWIS Weather Services Freeze/Frost Weather Services from AWIS Weather Services
AWIS is the standard in reliable, accurate freeze/frost forecasting. Our reputation speaks for itself with our more than 60 years of combined experience in freeze/frost forecasting. Our senior forecasters aren't just meteorologists, but agricultural meteorologists. They came from the old National Weather Service Ag Weather Program, so they are the most experienced, trained experts in the field. Don't take our word on it. Six out of ten of the top citrus growers in Florida are AWIS freeze/frost clients.

We know the difference between 32 degrees and 28 degrees and how 1 hour versus 3 hours of critical temperatures can impact your crop. We have developed our own proprietary temperature forecast models but we still use well known models like the Wallis-Georg model. Our temperature forecasts are for local farm locations and not limited to airport locations. We can't make that cold protection decision for you, but we can provide you with the best tools to help you determine when and how to protect.

AWIS has the latest tools and technology to help us produce our weather forecasts and deliver them to you. Our powerful computers continually process weather data and numerical weather model outputs received on our dedicated satellite downlink. We recently upgraded our forecast model which now generates forecasts out to 15 days. This will enable our forecasters to better monitor upcoming cold events, giving growers more advance notice of potential problems.

AWIS has a number of solutions for your freeze/frost weather needs. If you simply want the best possible, our Freeze/Frost Alert Service is the answer.  You will have your own personal ag meteorologist who will learn about your operation, monitor the weather and how it may impact you, and then notify you when there is a weather risk. If you want a customized weather forecast but don't need a personal briefing by of one of our ag meteorologists, our Freeze/Frost Fax or Email Service will provide you with detailed, timely weather forecasts. You will get a daily weather briefing via email or fax. This briefing will alert you of potential cold events and provide you with timely weather information for making those day-to-day operational decisions. The AWIS Freeze/Frost Web Subscription Service is designed for those growers that are comfortable using the web and don't require custom-tailored weather information. It's an economical way to get access to hundreds of pages of our unique ag weather information.
